Do you have a favorite author? You get super excited when this writer releases another book!

For me, Lysa TerKeurst is my favorite author!

I am excited to share her latest book on the Depth Podcast this week. As I was thinking back over my growth, I realize so many of her books have made a huge impact on me.

So today, I want to share with you my favorite books that Lysa has written that have deeply influenced my spiritual and emotional growth!

1. *Unglued : Making Wise Choices in the Midst of Raw Emotions

Book cover of Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst with a person on a rock in a field.

*Unglued is one of my life-changing books! It is all about how we react and this book shined a light on my tendency to explode. I was not self-aware before to see it, so I am thankful for the truths in her book that showed me areas in my reactivity I needed to make some changes. I share about this book that changed my life in my very first episode on the Depth Podcast. I would love for you to listen and hope it helps you as you determine if you are an exploder or stuffer. 2. *It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way

Book cover of Lysa TerKeurst's 'It's Not Supposed to Be This Way' with a person upside down.

This book on disappointment is another favorite! Also, it is so special that I got to interview Lysa TerKeurst on my Depth Podcast about this book in 2020. Covid has just happened and we were all saying, It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way. I had read her book back in 2018 when it released, but the message was becoming even more important to revisit when the world shut down during the pandemic. The wisdom she shares about brokenness in this book was life changing to me. I hope it deeply encourages you as well. Check out Depth Podcast Ep 139.

3. *Good Boundaries, Goodbyes

Book cover of Good Boundaries and Goodbyes by Lysa TerKeurst.

This timing of this book is so special! I had just walked through a deep betrayal from a friend and Lysa’s book on Boundaries and when to say goodbye was so helpful. She talks about how sometimes we give level 10 access to people who only give us level 3 responsibility. When this happens, we can lovingly ask them to raise their responsibility to match their access, or we can lower our access to match their responsibility. This was exactly the truth I needed to help me with this friendship loss. I pray *Good Boundaries, Goodbyes helps you too. Sadly, I have not done an episode on the podcast on this book. Perhaps I will in 2027!

4. *The Best Yes

Book cover of The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst with title and subtitle.

In a busy season of my life when I tended to take on more than I had time for, Lysa’s The Best Yes was so helpful. She shared a story about seeing a tree in Colorado that had broken branches because the snow came early. The tree had not dropped its leaves yet, so the weight of it all broke the branches. She shares the importance of putting something down before we pick something else up. I often ask myself, “Is this my best yes?” before adding on anything to my schedule. I also will say, “What do I need to lay down before I add this to my already full plate.” Her book was super impactful in my life, and I share about it on my Depth Podcast. I hope her wisdom will encourage you as much as it did me. Check out Depth Podcast Ep 150.

5. *Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely

Book cover of Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst with a woman holding flowers.

*Uninvited released in August 2016, the same timing of my dear friend, Jeannie passing away. I know it read it back then, but did not remember much of it due to my grief. I decided to re-read it again in 2023 and I am so glad I did. Some many pearls of wisdom in this book. One big take away is to live loved! She encourages us to live from a place of being filled up with the fullness of God’s love in you. Such important truth that I highlighted this book on my podcast. Check out Depth Podcast Ep 172

6. *Forgiving What You Can’t Forget

I am so grateful that Lysa wrote a book about forgiveness because forgiving someone who deeply hurt you is one of the hardest things to do. I love that she acknowledges that in the book, but then goes deeper into why forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves. I found some many nuggets of truth in this book that I share with others who are hurting. I am realizing it is time for me to do a podcast episode on this book, *Forgiving What You Can’t Forget. Stay tuned fro one in 2027.

7. *Making Peace with What I Can’t Control

*Making Peace with What I Can’t Control is Lysa’s most recent book and the one I am highlighting on the Depth Podcast this week! It is all about control and if I am honest, I thought I had worked on surrendering and not controlling. But Lysa shares some new words for control that definitely opened up my eyes. I realize I have more work to do on releasing control. Hope you enjoy hearing about her latest book on the podcast this week. Check out Depth Podcast Ep 265
