It was such a joy to be a guest on Charlsie’s podcast called The Miraculous Freedom Podcast. The title of our episode is Free to Be Honest in Grief. We talk about my Depth Book and how to be supportive to others in grief. Below is a description of our episode:
We’ve all been there. A close friend opens up about something that just split their heart right in two: a breakup, a “no” from their dream job, a betrayal, a loss. Beyond “I’m so sorry,” we may struggle with what to say or do next.
Despite our attempts to be loving and compassionate, our desire to fix/help/make the other person feel better may accidentally cause us to say something hurtful.
With October being pregnancy and infant loss awareness month, I thought it would be a good time to have a conversation around what to say (and not say) if a close friend loses a child. This episode may not give you a script since every loss is different — but I hope it will get you thinking about the types of things that might help (or hurt) in that situation.
