Time to Refocus
I need a re-do. Honestly, I wish I had trusted more and worried less.
Last week I shared how I was completely overwhelmed about my stressful situation with my dog. Even after posting last Wednesday, Shadow continued to have complications. I literally went to the vet almost daily as we tried to figure out what the problem was and how to help him.
There were moments when I would fully surrender the situation to God and trust Him. But sadly, as soon as things took a turn for the worse again, I would fall right back into worrying and going all bad in my head.
Maybe you also have a situation where you are struggling to find answers. You feel hopeful and then something negative happens again and you bounce right back into worry and confusion. Two steps forward, three steps back. You wonder how you will get through this.
It is time to Refocus!
This weekend, the word, focus, kept appearing: first in an article that came in the mail and then in my book I was reading. It was like God was trying to get my attention, “Where has your focus been?”
I wish I could say that my complete focus was on God the whole time, but the honest reality is that I had been focusing more on my problems than on God. Maybe you can relate.
As I began to refocus, I learned some powerful truths that I would love to share with you.
1. Satan wants to distract and discourage us.
One of his main tactics is to make us feel alone and isolated when we are facing difficulties. If he can shift our focus off of God and onto our problems, then he can sidetrack us into thinking we are facing this problem alone. I fell into this trap last week. I encourage you to be aware of the spiritual warfare happening around you.
2. Remember God is Bigger than our Problems!
Even when life is spiraling out of control, God is bigger than it all. I don’t know about you, but this statement gives me hope. In the middle of the hard times, God is walking with us, guiding us and giving us strength. He cares about what you are facing. I encourage you to call out to God and ask Him for His strength and wisdom.
Friends, I am thankful that even when we get distracted and lose focus, we can easily get back on track by shifting our eyes and attention onto to Jesus. He is always there waiting for us! God wants to help you with your problems both big and small. I encourage you to take time to refocus.
God, Help us as we can easily become distracted and end up on a detour. I pray for us to seek you and daily ask for your strength and power to face whatever comes on our path. Help us keep our eyes on you and not our problems. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
