Remember God is Already There

I love signs! Inspiring ones!

These messages ignite hope as the words speak truth of God’s faithfulness in the middle of the storm.

Honestly, my house is filled with them. In fact, the walls in my house are so full that I need more walls!

You can imagine my joy when I found this most recent treasure.

Faith Tells Me That No Matter What Trials Are Ahead of Me, God is Already there.

My eyes started to well up with tears over God’s perfect timing for these faith-filled words.

The last couple months have been extremely difficult personally. Overwhelmed and confused, I have been struggling to see how God could bring good out of a hurtful situation I’ve been walking through.

I think that is why these words resonated so deeply in my heart.

My job was not to see God’s divine plan. He just wanted me to meet Him in the middle of it.

Drawing closer to Him and seeking His guidance and wisdom is all He asked of me.

Maybe God is asking the same of you! He wants you in invite Him into your difficult circumstances and allow your heartbreak to turn to His Strength!

Let me share with you some wisdom I learned from The Names of God Bible Study by Melissa Spoelstra. Yahweh Nissi means The Lord Our Banner. It is first mentioned in Exodus 17 when Moses is fighting the Amaleks and God asks him to raise his staff. He becomes weary and his arms get tired, so I love that both Aaron and Hur help hold him up. What a beautiful illustration of God’s community!

But what I find even more amazing is what God asks Moses to do in verse 14 just after the victory. He says, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua.”

As I read those words, it was like a lightbulb clicked on in my head. I could not believe it.

God was asking Moses to make a sign! A sign to remember God’s faithfulness in the middle of the battle.

This is why I love signs! They help us cling to truth when we are ready to give up.

Do you need some hope today? Are you tired and exhausted?

Listen to the Big Idea from this chapter in the book. “Yahweh Nissi’s name reminds us that when we are weary, we can focus on the amazing things God has done in the past to give us strength in the present.”

Just like Moses, my sign was helping me focus on the faithfulness of God in the past which encouraged me to trust Him with my present and future.

Maybe you need a sign too. A reminder that God is with you in the middle of your storm and has never left your side.

Whether you would rather DIY or buy it like me, here are a couple favorite verses you may want to use:

  • The Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalms 34:18)
  • God will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
  • My Peace I give you…Do not let your heart be troubled. (John 14:27)

Friend, I am praying these words of truth bring you comfort, hope, and peace in the middle of your storm.

Remember God is Already There!

Love, Jodi
