One Word Challenge 2020

I just kept seeing the same word appear in my devotionals and in my books that I was reading. Have this ever happened to you?

Each New Year, I pick one word that I want to focus on. Instead of making resolutions, I choose a word that sums up who I want to be or how I want to live the following year.  I have participated in this One Word Challenge for over 6 years now.

This year, my word for 2020 is Timing.

As I ponder all the ways I can spend my time, this year, I want to be intentional and surrender my timing fully to God and let Him direct my path. It is easy to waste time, but this year, I want to view my timing as a special gift that I can intentionally give my kids, my parents, my sisters, my friends, my ministry…

I want to trust God’s Perfect Timing for my 2020.

I have some hopes and dreams, and I don’t want to rush ahead of God and His plans for me.  Instead, I want to wait for His Perfect Timing, even when I don’t understand why I have to wait or when it will happen.  This is so much easier said than done.

The past couple years, I usually choose a second word.

This year, my second word will be simplify.

In order to use my time wisely, I need to simplify the clutter in my house and simplify my schedule.  January will be a busy month at our house as we work on decluttering and simplifying!

What is your word for 2020?

I want to encourage you to choose a word for next year.  Where does God want you to focus?  I would love to hear your word and why you chose it, so please share in the comments below.

Love, Jodi
