Live It Out– 2 Cor 1:3-4

Have you ever taken a deep dive into a verse in the Bible? As you looked closely at the words, did you compare translations or look up what they meant in their original language?
Honestly, this is out of my comfort zone. Maybe it is for you too.
This is why I was so excited to share about my friend’s podcast called Steady On. Each week, Angie Baughman focuses on a Bible verse for her Monday episode called Take It In. Then on Wednesday, she highlights a powerful God story which goes along with the verse in an episode called Live It Out.
I am honored to be her guest this week on her podcast as we look closer at my life verse.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God of all comfort. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
On her Monday episode, I loved hearing the truths she shared about my life verse. I have to say that I learned so much!
First, let me quickly introduce you to her 5 Step Bible Study Method:
Step 1: Pick a word from the verse to zoom in on and look up its meaning as well as the opposite of what it means.
Step 2: Investigate it by comparing different Bible translations, looking up the original word, reading a commentary, and writing it into your own words
Step 3: Find the Character of God in the verse.
Step 4: Identify a lie that you may be believing that you can combat with this truth.
Step 5: So what? Now that you have learned this new insight, now what?
Secondly, I don’t want to give away the entire episode, but I will share one of my favorite takeaways. Angie shares on the episode an important truth that we are not responsible for making the comfort happen. Instead, we just need to lean into God’s call to allow Him to comfort us.
We don’t have to do anything but receive.
For some of you, that is a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. The God of the Universe wants to help you.
If you are in a hard season and need the comfort of God, then you want to hear more about what this verse means. It opened my eyes to such a beautiful way God strengthens us as He offers His comfort and aid in our unexpected storms.
I know I felt this comfort in such a powerful way in my journey. I share more about this and my story on Angie’s Wednesday episode. I would love for you to listen — my hope is to encourage other hurting hearts in the middle of their difficult circumstances.
For me, my greatest heartbreak catapulted me to my greatest growth. Maybe God is growing your roots even deeper too!
Love, Jodi
