5 Favorite Easter Traditions to Keep the Focus on Jesus

I am excited to share with you some of my favorite books and traditions to help you celebrate the true meaning Easter.
1. *Resurrection Eggs by Family Life
When my kids were younger, they loved learning more about Easter with the *Resurrection Eggs! It is a product from Family Life where they are 12 eggs with items inside to tell about the Easter story. However, one of the eggs is empty! Spoiler alert: it is to signify the tomb is empty. Jesus is alive and has Risen! I have even used these *Resurrection Eggs at a large Church Easter Egg Event years ago to teach the Easter message to a big group of kids! They are great and easy to use, but if you want specific Scriptures, I recommend the next item on my list from my mom.

2. My Mom’s Special Easter Message Eggs
Maybe you love the Resurrection Eggs idea, but you want to do it yourself and add Scripture to each egg! Well, look no longer, my mom has done all the work for you! In fact, on the Depth Podcast Episode 125, my mom shares all about these Special Easter Message Eggs! She gives lots of details on the episode so I recommend listening. I think you will love the intentionality and creativity of my mom as she shows us how to share the Easter story in a beautiful way (she talks about each item she came up with as well as the corresponding Scripture). Since Easter will be here before you know it, I wanted to give you plenty of time to gather these supplies and make your own set. Whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, these Easter Message Eggs are a great way to celebrate Holy Week and all God has done for us!

3. *He Is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter by Patti Rokus
On Depth Podcast Episode 124, I talk with Patti Rokus about her incredible Rock Art. I was captivated by her Easter book, *He is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter. Honestly, I am fascinated with the beautiful pictures made from the rocks. I think you will be too. Great for both kids and adults, I think it is fun to gather rocks and try to make your own Easter story. It is one of my favorite Easter books to share with others. I was excited to find out she made a *Christmas one too. She even just released a new one called *Bible Stories Rock.
Also, I loved hearing what birthed the idea for these books and the truth Patti learned from her camping trip. If you missed my conversation on the podcast with Patti, check out Depth Podcast Episode 124. Honestly, it is one of my favorites from 2022 and full of depth, honesty, and vulnerability. I know it will bless you, especially if you wonder if God is working in your life.
4. Easter Blocks by GoodKind

The same company that made Advent Blocks, also made Easter Blocks! They have been on the podcast three times to talk about their amazing products. I will share a link to each episode below. But today, I want to talk about their Easter Blocks. They are created to help you slow down and reflect during Holy Week. Just like the Advent Blocks, there is a book that goes along with the blocks and guides you through the most important week in history: Holy Week.
If you want to learn more about the Christmas Advent Blocks, check out Depth Podcast Episode 109 where we talk about why they made them as well as some of our favorite devotionals in the book.
The second time, I had them back to talk about their Sabbath Box in Depth Podcast Episode 135.
The third time, we talked about their Graticube for Thanksgiving or all year long on Depth Podcast Episode 153.

5. The Chosen- The Last Supper Movies
Have you seen The Chosen? It is a beautiful TV show that shows the life of Jesus and his 12 disciples. It is based on the Bible, but they have added their take on what it was like during the three years of Jesus’ ministry. What a love about it— it gives a new perspective on the Gospels for me.
Recently, they released 3 movies in theaters about the Last Supper and Holy Week! We watched the first two and were captivated by them. With Easter, just around the corner, I highly recommend seeing them and supporting The Chosen! You can watch the first four seasons on Amazon Prime and/ or see the movies this April in the theater! I think this series would be great to watch with your kids too!
Here is a description: “The Chosen: Last Supper,” according to the official website, is a three-part theatrical release of the fifth season of the series, focusing on the events of Holy Week leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus, and is being released in theaters over three weeks, culminating on April 11th.

I hope some of my favorite things will help your family focus on Jesus this year!
Lastly, I did a special Bible Shoes episode on Holy Week a couple years ago that I would love for you to check out. Here is a link to Episode 170 on Holy Week– if you want to focus more on this special week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.
Love, Jodi
