Encouragement for your Hurting Heart on Thanksgiving
Today, I hug and kiss my sweet sons goodbye as they head to their dad’s house for Thanksgiving. Sadly, it is not my year with them.
Even though we just had the best time together the first half of this week in the beautiful state of Utah, my heart will still miss them tomorrow.
It is hard to wake up on a National Family Day without your family.
Maybe you are missing someone this Holiday season. Perhaps there is an empty chair at the table because a loved one has passed. Or maybe like me, you are divorced, and your kids are celebrating with their other parent. Whatever the reason, grief during the Holidays is difficult.
I recently released my first book, Depth: Growing Through Heartbreak to Strength, and I wrote a chapter about my first Thanksgiving without my boys. It was truly one of the hardest times in my life.
Today, I would like to share with you Chapter 17 from my book.
It is called Change Your Focus, and I honestly share the pain from that day as well as some truth God taught me later that weekend. My hope is that it will bring encouragement to your hurting heart as well as let you know I understand.
I know the deep sadness of the first Holiday without your loved ones. I understand the many tears shed and the void in your heart even years later. I am so sorry that grief intensifies during the Holidays. I remember wishing the day would be over with already.
Give yourself lots of grace if you are missing someone special this Thanksgiving.
Please know I am praying for you. I hope these words from my book encourage you today. Click Here to Read Chapter 17!
Love, Jodi
