A Little Perspective Goes A Long Way
Have you ever asked God to Open your Spiritual Eyes?
Perhaps you are feeling defeated by your hard circumstances. Maybe you are ready to lose all hope. Today I want to encourage you with a passage of Scripture in 2 Kings 6.
We find Elisha, a prophet, talking with his servant. King Aram is not happy with Elisha and has sent troops to seize him. As Elisha’s servant looks outside and see troops, horses, and chariots everywhere, he cries out in fear to Elisha. In verse 16, Elisha responds, “Don’t be afraid! For there are more on our side than on theirs.”
I imagine that his servant is very confused by Elisha’s words. From what he can see, they are completely outnumbered. This is why I love what Elisha prays next in verse 17, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see.”
Immediately, the servant’s spiritual eyes are opened! He saw that they were not alone; He saw an angel army sent by God to protect them.
Perspective changes everything.
I love what Lysa TerKeurst says in the Proverbs 31 Ministries First 5 App about this passage. She says, “There are always two realities to everything we face: A physical reality but also a spiritual reality.”
So many times, we look at our circumstances through a limited lens. We try to understand through our human eyes. Today, I want us to say that same prayer that Elisha spoke, “O Lord, open our eyes and let us see.”
Personalize this prayer today and say it out loud, “God, Open My Spiritual Eyes.”
Open my spiritual eyes to see that I am not alone in these hard circumstances. Allow me to focus on the truth that you will never leave me nor forsake me. Help me see your protection and provision over my life even when my circumstances try to tell me differently.
Friend, perspective is so important as you are walking through your unexpected storm.
This is why I am so excited to share with you my podcast interview with Rachael Adams called A Little Perspective Goes A Long Way. If you need encouragement to keep trusting God is working even when you cannot see it, I recommend listening to this episode. I pray it brings hope to your hurting heart.
Love, Jodi
